This is pretty simple:- game not finished (seriously)- campaign does stop at a certain quest (?)- clone of sid meyer's pirates, but worse (Gets boring very quickly, 15h in, I will not touch this again)- I don't feel like a merchant playing this- no love for detail (why would'nt you see your mercenaries in the animated caravan window, while they are represented on the main menu background; interesting idea with different city descriptions, but no real impact on trading; absolutely no surprises in the game; combat system is bad and unbalanced...)- I believe early access should at least give a sneak at what the game should be, this is like a graphic worksheet. (Yes I do believe I could redesign the whole trading system in a tabulator)- I actually think the graphics are well made (nothing revolutionary though)I'm sorry, this is seriously bad, get Sid Meyer's Pirates, it's as cheap, but a real game.. ===[ Audience ]=== ☐ Children☑ Everyone☐ Casual players☐ Pro players===[ Graphics ]=== ☐ Pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥☐ Terrible☑ Bad☐ OK☐ Good ☐ Beautiful ☐ Exceptional===[Price/quality: ]=== ☐ Full price ☑ Wait for sale ☐ Free☐ Refund it if you can☐ Stay away===[ Requirments: ]=== ☑ 90' PC☐ Minimum☐ Medium ☐ Fast☐ High end ☐ Beastly===[ Difficulty: ]=== ☐ Difficult to lose ☑ Rather easy☐ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Hard (first few hours)☐ Impossible===[ Game time/length ]=== ☐ Really short ( 0 - 2 hours)☐ Short ( 2 - 6 hours)☐ Few hours ( 6 - 12 hours)☐ Long ( 12+ hours)☑ Endless===[ Story] === ☑ It doesn't have☐ Adam Sandler bad☐ Bad☐ Average☐ Good☐ Fantastic===[ Bugs ]=== ☐ Barely- if at all, runs☐ Everywhere☑ Lot of bugs☐ Few Bugs (Not game breaking)☐ Nothing===[ Overall ]===☐ Burn it with fire☐ Terrible☐ Bad☑ Ok☐ Good☐ Nice☐ Perfect. This is a great little game, easy to pick up and hard to put down. Just enough good writing to be interesting, enough humor to provide a laugh here and there without overdoing it. Good set of progressive upgrades that keep you focused on improving. Pretty much everything that is good about small indie games... my only regret is that it isn't finished yet. :). Great game in the works. This Merchant Life provides a pleasant and engaging experience of hunting for the best deals while trying to stay alive (economically and somewhat literally). The trading system responds to your buying and selling, so you can't keep making the same great sale again for awhile. And the need to hire guards for your wagon is a constant tax on your resources; when a lot of your capital is tied up in goods, you may need to make a risky move even into the mid-game. The combat system itself is appropriately simple for an economically focused game, but you'll still have to make some hard choices, and in some encounters likely never feel safe. One really great thing about this game is the writing. It's just cheeky enough to be really enjoyable without ever feeling like it's trying too hard. You get a flavor for the Kingdom of Peregrine, a medieval, slightly fantasy kingdom with numerous quirky towns. And, reading the town's flavor text often clues you in to what trade is most lucrative in a town, a nice bonus. This game is still in early access and literally under development. While I did encounter several bugs, they were all minor oddities. There seem to be placeholders for some of the content of the game ("Heroes" are mentioned in several places, but I never encountered them). And the balancing needs some work; late game becomes almost trivial with a fully upgraded cart (allowing you to avoid all random encounters, meaning you don't need to hire guards) and the highest tier of goods to buy/sell (easily netting you ten thousands of gold in a haul, completing the final few goals in just a few minutes). But again, this is to be expected in a game that is literally still in development.I think this has the makings of a wonderful game, particularly for the low price ($8.99 when I purchased not on sale). One feature I hope to see in a future release is a randomized map. That would significantly improve the replay value. As this game develops further, I will definitely be coming back to see how it's improved.. tHERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS SO IT IS HARD TO KNOW WHAT THE OBJECT IS. NO ACTION; VERY BORING. NO SCENERY, JUST LINES AND A RED DOT ON THE SCREEN MOVING FROM PLACE TO PLACE.. This is one of the most charming titles ive played in a long time. Simple. Fun. Rewarding. 8/10. Everything from the aesthetics down the functionality of the game are top notch. Over the last 24 hours the game has been updated beyond recognition and it has a strong future.Potential for a cult classic if it ever overflows with content. As it stands though ive currently maxed out the game. Binge playing mind you.. I want that gold.. at half price... Then i'll wheel next door and sling it for triple profit... Too expensive for what it is.It's charming, fun and it's cute for a bit, but then gets boring with not enough places to go and not enough things to spend your money on, merchanting for it's own sake gets boring. You do stuff for reward, and not just a tick of money counting which I feel like is all this game is, higher and higher numbers. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't think so. It just can't be played for a long time and with other titles out there, this is maybe worth less than your average game at this price. Version 0.61: It's all about more road events in the latest update for This Merchant Life! 40 more road events are added in total, 10 for each of the 4 distinct regions in the game.Content. Version 0.42: This update has been quite a while in the works! The key addition is the locations system, which adds specific places within settlements that players can visit directly once they've learned of them. There are seven locations added with this update, a lot of the work in this update was on the structure and functionality of the whole system, so expect lots more locations added soon to flesh this system out! There are also some fixes for particularly annoying bugs that had been hanging around for ages, such as the auto-travel when clicking on specific settlements bug.In addition, some nice quality of life improvements are included, such as buy all/sell all buttons on the market and overviews of cheap and expensive resources available when mousing over settlements on the map screen. Please note that saved data about settlements may be affected by this update - particularly reputation levels.Fixes. Version 0.72: This update adds an optional tutorial sequence for players to run through at the start of the game. There's also a new, daring look for the market screen as well as a bunch of UI tweaks and improvements, plus some bug fixing!Systems.
